The result is an increase in supply chain velocity, and cost reduction.

Digital logistics, in this broad sense, create new opportunities and drive market transformation, from traditional logistics concepts – to a new era of digital logistics.

Digital Logistics, as a subject area within traditional logistics, encompass all cloud based software solutions that adress different aspects of the supply chain and logistics management process.

Digital Logistics in logistics managment

Digital logistics is sometimes used interchangeably with digital logistics system. A system for digital logistics is, however something more specific. For example, specifically, a software platform for logistics management or delivery management. I.e. a digital logistics system is used for buying, booking and managing transports with carriers.

A digital logistics system can also be described as the link between transport buyers and carriers in order to create a smooth logistics- and delivery flow. It is mainly purchased by transport buyers, like e-retailers, that have agreements with one or several carriers.

Advanced digital logistics systems are more automized and work in real-time, and directly from inside a company's ERP system.
